The Triumph of Hope: a Narrative

I embarked on this project after the recent death of my husband. It has been a healing process enabling me to anticipate a joyous future and accept suffering and loss as part of the human condition. Throughout the series, Hope is visually personified as a comforter and guide who rejects despair and leads the sorrowful to a world of optimism and light. The courageous words of Eleanor Roosevelt: I have lived through this horror, I can take the next thing that comes along, fortified my resolve to move forward.

Iconography, Persian art and images from Greek mythology are my source materials for, The Triumph of Hope: a Narrative. As a writer and avid reader, I use literature and poetry to inform these large illustrative paintings, and handwrite extracts on each painting, some of the statements and poetry are my own.
